I am almost certain that my regen was not caused by an over the air update, but by a regeneration program that is in our trucks to extend the life of the Particulate filter. I believe it will be invoked when the truckís process calls for it to be more thoroughly cleaned.

That said we will see over the air updates in the future if not already in some vehicles.

It should go through a Regen Tuesday. Have a 90 mile round trip for a Dr. Appointment.

Will let you know how it acts.

I believe if you live in a small town like I do, and you do not drive the truck enough to experience a long term regen then this message will pop up. It is just telling you to drive slow until the regen is complete and let it complete all the way.

Had a normal regen down to 0% today.

Hopefully no more of those strange regen messages.

I use the Operator Commanded Regen capability that I added via FORScan to uncheck Auto Regen whenever I know I am approaching 300 miles since the last regen when the DPF % Full is < 85% Full, then I will check the Auto Regen box when I start the next highway run and try to do this before I reach DPF Filter Full message to get an active regen.[/B] I also always drive active regens all the way through the cycle instead of stopping them in the middle. I generally do not drive past DPF Filter Full message, although you can see I have done 35.4 miles of such driving, but that 35 miles is more like 5-6 different times when I deferred the start for < 10 miles because of bad timing of when it would have started (e.g., just arriving at a destination).
What is the setting in Forscan for operator commanded Regen? I have added the DPF screen but not been able to find the regen control.

Thanks!

I think it was our own Will Reed who initially did this, here is his post:

For those not following the Forscan thread. I was able to completely enable OCR in Forscan. Use the actual modules and not the as built settings. The modules have the options to change it.

First, bring up the IPC module and change the Auto regen checkbox to show it in the instrument panel. I don't have a screen shot of this but it is near the top. The checkbox will come up but you can't do anything to it.

Next, go to the PCM and there is a option (some say it is new) to turn on OCR in the PCM. Below is the initial screen for the PCM

Once you select DPF Manual Regeneration, this screen comes up

Choose the third option and apply it.

After the PCM reboots, you will be able to control the regen checkbox.
All this really does is let you stop the regen until you are ready for it, in other words you can delay it for a short time if, for example you are almost home and want to delay it until your next trip.
