Got here and posted a thread about DPF/EGR delete - a member PMed me and I can't even respond. It's pretty awful, and a bad user experience for someone who would actually like to use the forum right off the bat. Especially given a forum that's so small in user-base size.

I can understand the no links/URLs for 5 posts (however I think QUOTING a link or URL should be allowed - that's another annoying experience I had already) but 15 for a PM is too much, drop it to 5. Most spammers will be found before 5 posts and banned if you have proper admin/moderator support.

posting here to finally get 15 posts, a month later.... with no reply to this...

It's also annoying that editing is locked after like ... 15 mins evidently?

@RideZX6R - please understand that the moderators here have very little control over how these forums are set up, as we rely on our admins who are responsible for things like this, and I assume they set their limits based on all of the other forums that they manage.

In fact up until about 6 weeks ago, these forums had zero Moderators until @wreedsvt and I asked. Since you have exceeded the limit, I don' think this should be an issue for you anymore.

We will do what we can to keep things rolling here, but there are some things that are simply out of our control.

Just so you and wreedsvt know - I'm not upset with either of you.

However I'd say the 15 posts requirement is a first for me to see something that high, and since I've owned many many cars I've been a member of many many forums (you should see my inbox on my birthday for the auto-generated forum mails I get LOL). I've personally never seen it higher than 5 posts.

I assume the limit was either inexperience, or seen as a way to limit spam (or both). And in my experience, spammers tend to post 2-3 times wherever they can, then spam directly to the forum - rarely if ever via PM.

You're correct, that since I passed the 15 post mark, I won't have any issues - but the forum here is small and such heavy restrictions are more likely to repel new members than encourage them to stay around a while and contribute - Just a thought for the admins if they want this forum to grow and see ad revenue (not to mention the rest of us normies who might want to share/gain new knowledge)

I agree 15 posts for a PM is far too many. I guess I need to do more posting in case I need to PM someone.

For now 15 posts is what it is. Its OK to just post "Subscribing" into a thread if you are interested in it and also looking to get post count up if you are a legitimate member.
