2nd Time Is The Charm

As you may remember my beautiful 2018 Blue jean Lariat F150 had a problem that just couldn't get fixed, most likely related to the EGR valve recall. I really missed it more than I thought I would.
Flash forward to today and recently I saw a Ruby Red 3.0 2018 hold-over, Platinum but without a sunroof. 701A and everything I wanted! And no, I really didn't want a sunroof. Anyway, it was brand new but too expensive.

Well, last night I saw it was reduced a lot, so off to the dealer today. Found it! but with a sold sign on the dash. :| . Salesman came by and of course "but we have others..." No thanks, I want a platinum without a sunroof.

Anyway he went to the sales manager who told him it was being held with no down, so whoever paid first would buy it. Too good to pass up. And the good news- it was built a week after the EGR recall dates.

So, I am back and now it is time to forscan.

@Dunrollin well done man! Congrats! Looks like you got what you wanted at a great price, and you stepped up from Lariat to Platinum!

I know we have all heard the saying "everything in life happens for a reason", but in this case it seems this truly applies.

We're glad to have you back into 3.0 ownership and as a contributor to the forum.
Thanks! It was a big letdown to get into a non-forscanned F150. I missed the DPF %, folding mirrors, numeric gauges and so much more. I have a lot of work to do!
Forscan info.

@KR2018 Great help! Thanks...
I wish we could display the actual boost number above the gauge. I am pretty sure it is not possible but if someone knows how, please let us know.

That would be nice!
Digital over Guage

That would be nice!
In Module IPC-NEW 720-07-01 xxxx x*xx xxxx

It looks like the * location deals with three vehicle components.

TBC - trailer brake controller
TB - Turbo boost digital over guage
NSS - Navigation Speed Signs

F in the position appears to enable the digital over the turbo guage

But that is If you have a TBC AND NSS

I WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU BACK UP THE MODULE BEFORE CHANGING ANYTHING!!!

Look at the module location to determine your trucks configuration and try it out. “F” May not be correct for your truck configuration.

I’m off for a weeks fishing trip and I won’t have my truck with me.

Good luck and let us know if you got it to work.

Looks like DGI Interface does not mean what I thought it did....sorry, I’ll keep looking when I get a chance.

Need more time to read some more......

I believe the DGI enabled gives the ability to monitor boost in this case via the OBD ll port.

Example:
Via iPhone or external gauge like the one offered by Banks. Requires WiFi capable OBDll
@KR2018 thanks for following up on your post to provide the additional information. Also, enjoy your week off fishing and I hope you are able to catch some nice ones!
I can see Turbo PSI on my EzLynk. I am not brave enough to screw around with unknown Forscan values...
Any regrets

Does anyone here regret purchasing the 2018 Powerstroke diesel? I have an opportunity to purchase a 2018 Platinum for $49,900. After reading some of the issues here I don’t know if I should or not. I need to decide soon before it’s gone.
Nope these are great trucks, make sure EGR recall is done correctly and you are good to go!
I echo what @wreedsvt says, and to add to his comment the EGR By-pass valve recall only affects vehicle build dates September 13, 2017 through October 9, 2018 per @RBaker --> https://www.dieself150forum.com/forum/16634-post31.html

@jmperlik provided some great advice to future buyers in this post advising that you get an OASIS report on the truck's VIN before purchasing it to ensure that either the build date is outside the recall window or that FSA 18E02 has been already performed --> https://www.dieself150forum.com/forum/18458-post191.html

I absolutely love my 2018 3.0 King Ranch, and my build date was inside the recall window and I had no issues with getting my recall work done, and I even had them show me my old part with my 2 screws intact within the EGR By-pass valve for piece of mind --> https://www.dieself150forum.com/forum/16962-post71.html

Here is a post from @RBaker that shows the old and the new replacement part --> https://www.dieself150forum.com/forum/18548-post212.html

@purplehaiz $49.9K for a Platinum seems like a great price. These are awesome trucks, and if you follow the guidance from @jmperlik you will rest easy knowing that Platinum is either not impacted by the recall, or it was and the FSA has already been performed (or have them do it before signing the papers--and if they need to do it tell them you want to hold the old part in your hands to ensure both screws are intact). Welcome to the forum, and we look forward to hearing about how much you love your new 2018 3.0 Platinum.

Cheers!
