Alternator Failure

On my way down to our vacation property in Florida, had the alternator fail. Since it was a Saturday after hours, couldn’t find a dealership to fix it under warranty. Stayed the night in a hotel and bought a charger and charged the battery overnight. Made it another two hours down the road before stopping and charging it again. Arrived at our destination late Sunday after another charging stop. Monday brought it to the local Ford dealer and they originally told us they wouldn’t be able to look at it for two weeks. We were only going to be down there for one week so that wouldn’t work. Called Ford customer service who put some pressure on the dealer who got it in and confirmed it was the alternator. Unfortunately. the alternator was on national backorder. They were able to find a used one and we had the truck back on Friday. So, from Monday till Friday we were without transportation as there were no Ford rental cars anywhere in the area. I learned that under warranty the covered rental has to be a Ford. Truck has been fine since. The very nice lady at customer service was very understanding of our plight and is reimbursing us for the hotel and charger.

Sorry for such a disappointing travel experience but my hats off to you for thinking of the charger . I want to say thanks for the way you explained how the warranty works . It seems to be when I bring my 19 in for service it’s there for weeks. The service writer told me the quality of the mechanic is just replace parts there’s no more mechanics that overhaul parts today or rebuild defective parts. The 19 I have is great. Hope all well with yours
