How do you guys feel about this bed comparison ?

At this point, you might be wondering why all the fuss is all about, especially if you are not into trucks. The situation is easy - Ford’s 2016 F-150 has a body and chassis made entirely from aluminum, including its bed, while Chevrolet and its competitors use steel.

What's funny is when you start asking questions, the direction Ford went with its truck makes a lot of sense. You have to ask the questions of who's buy? what are they using it for? what's the tolerance of the F-150 for that use? etc. You'll find that even the F-150 in the condition it rolls off the production line exceeds what the average person will be doing to it.

This YouTube commenter said it well:

okay, so, let's be honest... none of you fat *****, regardless of what truck brand you own, will be doing anything other than hauling yourself around in either of these trucks.

Or just buy truck bed liner... Not the best commercial when you think about it, most people won't be dropping chunks of stone from five feet into a bed and they also won't try to balance a toolbox which probably has expensive tools on an edge.

Also, isn't GM going to use aluminium in their next gen trucks and truck beds? How will they try to advertise that in the future I wonder.

That's what the whole controversy is about. They will be stepping to aluminum in the near future so I wouldn't understand why they would release something that's pretty much digging your own grave. It'll be interesting what route they choose to try and save themselves from this one.

By default all or most people know that you do want to line the bed, no one in their right mind just throws things in a bed like that. And you'll see that mentioned a lot throughout the comments section of the video, even Chevy guys are saying it, not just those trying to defend Ford.

That is definitely true. If someone is sporting without a bed-liner, chances are they don't use it. Maybe rarely.

But the vast majority of people that buy a truck, without a doubt, immediately get it with a proper bed liner, or immediately get a sprayed liner done. Without fail.

Well Chevy did manage to produce a dramatic ad which is pretty much what they were looking to do. Any potential truck buyer or current owner worth their salt will be adding a bedliner, especially if they plan to use it for hauling materials.

Funny how someone mentioned that some landscape blocks punched through a chevy 2011 1500 bed.

honda also did a toolbox drop reply.
