Hi all,

New member but have been reading the forum for a couple of months great resource!

Just wanted to make you all aware that I had my 2018 in the shop for hard shifts on 3 to 5 and the service manager called it before they looked at it. My transmission was 2 quarts low on fluid! He said they have had multiple 10 speeds in 1 to 2 quarts low. The first couple they did dye and leak checks but now they do a visual check and check the fluid levels.

I need to check mine, because when I first crank it, if I put in gear quickly it takes a second to engage. This normally means its a little low on fluid.

I dont think there is a dipstick on these. Anyone know how to check it?

On page 353 of the manual it states:

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
FLUID CHECK
If required, have an authorized dealer check
and change the transmission fluid at the
correct service interval. See Scheduled
Maintenance (page 554).
The automatic transmission does not have
a transmission fluid dipstick.
Refer to your scheduled maintenance
information for scheduled intervals for fluid
checks and changes. Your transmission
does not consume fluid. However, if the
transmission slips, shifts slowly or if you
notice a sign of leaking fluid, contact an
authorized dealer.
Do not use supplemental transmission
fluid additives, treatments or cleaning
agents. The use of these materials may
affect transmission operation and result
in damage to internal transmission
components.
My 2013 at least has the little dipstick under a nut-like cover. Wierd.

Mine is slow to get moving in Reverse when cold start too, could just be the nature of the beast.

I do have a problem in tow/haul...from a start pulling my boat it starts in first then shifts to third then slams back to second then third again.

I am definitely going to ask for a PCM and TCM Flash and have them check the transmission fluid level as long as they have it on a hoist.

They will probably want to change the block heater then too. Wish I could will it to someone in Canada that may need it long before I will down here in Florida.

There have been many ECM and TCM updates over the last year as Ford dials them in. Do you have Forscan to read what you are running now? It will show in the log screen.

I found the log screen (at least I think I did)

It’s the screen that list the modules and has a green check mark under the log header.

But I can’t figure out how to open the logs for the modules

Any guidance will be appreciated.

The log is where the info is, what does it says your PCM and TCM Strategy is? Copy and paste the text.

That was just a stock image I found on Google. When it reads the vehicle it should show you all that info, hard wired or wifi.

Maybe click around in it more see if you can find that tab? Not sure what else to tell you.

Those strategies are actually newer than mine. I wonder if they new one have an issue? My trans has always been smooth.

I used tow/haul when I went fishing Thursday and is no longer did the hard shift. It was flawless and smooth through all gears.

Maybe it just needed to learn my tow driving habits???

I rarely use the sports mode, but I did today and got on it up to 80 and it was smooth and strong!

So I don’t have any complaints now, but I am still going to ask the dealer to check the fluid level on my next oil change.

My dealer gives free oil changes and DEF tank fill every 5000 miles. Great sales incentive. (Only on F-150 3.0l).
