Stumbled upon this forum. Recently purchased a 2018 F-150 TIA... err, Mini stroke? Baby stroke? 3.0L Powerstroke? :grin2:

Previously had a '13 Ram 1500 quadcab and with my family (soon to be) growing in size had to upgrade my seating arrangements. Was able to get the '18 for a good deal and certainly has more bells and whistles inside than I could have ever wanted. Was hesitant for buying a diesel (especially a 1st year Ford run) but after researching the motor's history and knowing that the fuel economy was supposedly wonderful I decided to pull the trigger.

So far, less than 2 weeks of owning it I have put on almost 800 miles and averaged just under 23mpg... not too shabby. While the ride feels a little rougher than my Ram I can say everything else in the truck makes up for it (except that auto start/stop... thank goodness for that button).

Not sure if I am going to do anything much to the truck. Ordered a tri-fold hard bed cover, vent visors, bug/stone guard and weathertek mats... I think that would be good for now. Perhaps a decent air filter in my future?

Here to have a few laughs while gaining knowledge and ironing out bugs.

Hey man Congrats!

We can get Auto Stop Start turned off for you for about $70 bucks and a Windows laptop.

Fords are highly programmable with Forscan, unlike Dodge and Chevy. Simple computer edit and auto stop start will never shut your truck off again. :)

Ditto what wreed says, forscan is great! In the meantime you can just unplug the battery management plug at the neg terminal of the battery and auto start is gone. Welcome!

I discovered when unplugging the BMS cable, my radar was not turning off anymore, which led me to investigate more and over night my voltage would drop into the 11s. I plugged it back in and disabled ASS with Forscan and now radar goes off and voltage is a healthy 12.6v in the AM. So unplugging the cable, all the trucks modules do not shutdown at night draining the battery. At that rate I could see the battery being unable to start the truck in a few days time.

Welcome Michael.

If you decide to do some forscan changes, here is what I did to my 2018 King Ranch.

I asked my service dept. to add the exhaust filter fill status. They said no problem no charge.

So I decided to do more without pestering them.

Here is a list om the modifications I made on my truck.

Modifications F 150 King Ranch. XX is don’t change, only change the alpha numeric listed. Example E5 in the first change I made for Engine Gauges. Do not change any of the fields listed with the XXXX.

IT WOULD BE WISE TO BACKUP THE MODULES BEFORE YOU MAKE CHANGES!

@Michael Johnston - welcome aboard to the forums here! I'm just up the road from you in the Mid-Hudson Valley and have owned my 2018 F150 PS Platinum for about 8 months now.

Congrats on your new F150 purchase and glad to see another Ram convert join our ranks!

Thank you all!
@KR2018 thank you for all that great info. I have a friend that works in parts/service where I got the truck so this is great info.
@wreedsvt thanks for the heads up, don't plan on unplugging anything now hahaha. Long gone are the days of a carb and pencil...

@jmperlik convert... I guess. Grew up a Merc guy had an '88 XR-7 that I modded and made it into a 12 second-ish street rod. I loved my '13 Bighorn but I made the mistake of getting the quad cab instead of the crew otherwise I'd keep it until the wheels fell off [insert Dodge FCA joke here]. Here is my old baby... gonna miss her.

(I can't post links yet :frown2: so fill in the blanks...)
