hey guys, mentioned the fuel tank capacity upgrade possibility to the wife...she loved the idea? I must be doing something right (or she doing something wrong)

anyone do one of these Titans? I think I remember reading in a previous thread someone mentioned the comment.

My question, is does the dealer have to do it and change the computer setting for tank quantity? also, does it come with a new sender?

Sorry if this is common knowledge or already been discussed here in our forum!

@FUGAZI - I had my dealer install the Titan 40 gallon XXL tank on my 2018 F150 Platinum PSD w/5.5' bed, while several other members have installed themselves. Sending unit gets swapped over and the DTE (Distance To Empty) change to larger tank is easy change made via FORScan programming.

Only downside is DTE for miles is only 3 digits, so if you are installing the 48 gallon tank on an F150 with a 6.5' bed, you'll read 999 after fill-up until you drop down. Funny thing is that DTE in KM is 4 digits, so it's not that the digital display couldn't display 4 digits. I haven't hit this issue in the past 15K miles on my 40 gallon tank since it was installed, as the highest DTE I have seen is 900 miles.

Factory skid plate also needs to be removed if you have the FX4 package or added the optional skid plates, as the tank does sit about 1.5" lower than the factory tank. I'm happy with mine.

Here the original/best thread on this topic that started when they first introduced it: Titan Fuel Tank

This would be one way to solve any tank contamination issues you might have...

@jmperlik interesting ticket…any ideas on the dealer codes ?
No, I don't have any inside info on their service/diagnostic routines. Just reading thru the ticket, no diagnostic codes thrown and it looks like they followed a diagnostic procedure (7000) based on what you told them (C/S = Customer States) and followed the flow chart in the service manuals. Maybe adjusted Clutch D, downloaded a transmission strategy, and ran it thru a drive cycle for adaptive learning. These new 10-speed transmissions can be adjusted/tuned programmatically and then adapt based on your driving style. Please let us know if this solves your problems!

If you do go with the new Titan XXL tank, I'd be very interested in pics of what your old one looks like inside to see how clean/dirty it is...

LOVE MY TITAN TANK. Seeing 850 miles to empty is cool.
I installed with a mechanic buddy in a couple of hours. The electronics are easy. You need a Forscan. Google it and YouTube it. A ton of great information out there.
only wish a big rig fuel opening was available. Also a dyi version out there but not as simple.
downside? You’ll spend more time at the pump filling up.

But fewer trips to the gas stations to fill up, so it evens out.
