Hi all,

just purchased a new Platinum. Seems we are a family of F150. Started in 2002 both Kids purchased F150's, one regular cab for my daughter which I currently own also and intend to give it to my grandson ( her son) when he is old enough. My son bought a crew cab in 2002 about the same time. Somehow I ended up with both at one time.

I purchased new a 2011 3.5 Ecoboost when they came out and loved it. Son and son in law bought 2015 2.7 Ecoboost in 2015, I purchased another lariat in 2015 with again a 3.5 eco. Son purchased a 2017 new XLT with a 2.7 Ecoboost again. Honestly could not tell the difference between how the 2.7 and 3.5 drove. Suspect it was mostly due to gearing. All are great Trucks.

Father in law retired from ford manufacturing so we get decent deals on Ford products. Have always been interested from the day they announced the diesel for the F150. Wife had me looking at a new expedition but just could not pull the trigger. nice very nice but just not me. Since I am usually the only one in the Truck 90% of the time went back to looking at F150's . I have a bad back and due for surgery soon. My son's XLT seats are more comfortable that the leather in Lariat. ( not as hard ) Started looking at XLT but really did not want to give up what I loved about the Lariat. Called our dealer and asked if they had a diesel on the lot, Figured it was time to drive one. They did but it was not one I was looking for. I am in the south and gave up 4x4 years ago when we moved from the north. What they had was a 4x4 Platinum. Wanted another Lariat with locking diff. really looking at the mileage. well I went home with the Platinum. Haven't put much mileage on it yet but have to say it very comfortable. Seats are more comfortable than the Lariat plus you can get a message while driving.

Now for the diesel. WOW can't really tell the difference in power with normal driving from the 3.5 Ecoboost. The torque really make it very drivable. yep it is really quiet . Can't hear it run unless I have my hearing aids in (worked on to many planes in the service )

Had to make a run to the airport to pick up a friend and put it eco mode. Got better than 29mpg at 70 to 75 mph.
Really everyone says you pay a high premium for the engine but really it about $1500 more than the 3.5 ecoboost in the Lariat. If the hold there prices like diesel F250 its a good investment over time.

Very happy so far

Al
