If the little tit on the rubber piece already looks damaged and angled over from the dealer oil changes, should it be brought up and an oil cooler replacement considered. I changed my own oil today since the dealership has no oil or filters for this engine and checked the piece which looked questionable.

As long as the rubber nub / oil anti-drain stopper is where it is supposed to be, I don't see a need to replace the oil cooler / replace the nub.
During an oil filter change, when the filter element is pushed town onto the post within oil cooler, it's apparent to me the "tail" on the rubber nub gets pushed over by the bottom of the filter element.
