Hey all... a couple of questions...

I did the S&B CAI myself yesterday and would like to aim for an EGR delete and DPF delete sooner or later.

This is my first diesel (bought 2 weeks ago) and I am using it to tow my camper (Cherokee 294GEBG | Forest River RV - Manufacturer of Travel Trailers - Fifth Wheels - Tent Campers - Motorhomes)
I have pulled it once and it was one **** of an upgrade from my 2010 5.4L F150.

I have some questions...
What do you recommend for performance upgrades for daily driving and towing the camper?
If I delete the dpf for a turbo-back exhaust of 4", I assume I need a tuner... What tuner do you recommend and do I need a specific tune or does it come pre-loaded?

Any tips or advice is very welcome!

Thank you all so much in advance.

Welcome! I’m in the process of upgrading to a 2019 3.0 Powerstroke from a 2010 5.4 F150 as well. I’m excited about the better towing performance and much better fuel economy as well. You have asked a lot of questions that I also am interested in. Sounds like there are a couple companies out of Canada that will write delete tunes as well as sell the “off road” or “race” exhaust. There are a few threads on the forum that address all of the things you are asking about. Got a pic of your new pickup?

@Ma2Hersch - welcome aboard here to the forums!

I can't do any tuning here where I am, so I have no recommendations for you there, so I'll defer to other members.

Pretty nice (but big!) 5th wheel you got there! What size bed/wheelbase do you have? You may want to keep an eye on your payload and max trailer weights according to this chart from the 2019 F150 Towing Guide:
2229

Pics you posted show both trucks are SuperCrews, so you are over in the lower-right corner of the above chart.

Not trying to be a nanny or trailer police, but was just surprised at how big a trailer you are towing with a 1/2 ton...

Would be interested in your towing MPGs compared to he big 5.4 (I had a 2010 F150 Platinum also) engine -- I would assume still single digits with the 3.0L PSD given the size/weight of your trailer...

Welcome again to the club!

Ah, OK - 5th wheel jumped out at me in the link title and didn't pay attention to the diagram once I opened the link = this is why I should stay away from travel trailer threads! Nothing to see here -- move along!

How did the 2010 5.4 pull your camper? I had a 2010 also, but ended up swapping in 4.10 gears to help keep the transmission from hunting all the time while pulling. If the select shift option would have been available in ‘10, that would have helped to be able to lock it in 5th or 4th. I’m betting the 3.0 will handle that camper much better. I’m also curious how your towing fuel economy will be, but going from a 5.4, I’m guessing it will be a drastic improvement!

The 10 pulled it alright. Got me from point A to B with several miles in between. Gas mileage was about 7 average pulling. I get 21 now in the 3.0 so I am hoping half that would be better than what I was getting before lol
