I have a 2018 F150 King Ranch diesel. The "smart" oil change monitor generally has reached 0 at 5000 miles or slightly more. This month it went to zero in only 2500 miles. Being frugal, I'm reluctant to change the oil at only 2500 miles. What mileage are other folks getting before the oil monitor reaches zero? Any advice?

Depends on conditions and towing etc. I use to have the oil changed at 5 thousand mile intervals but that is waste. So now I follow the oil monitor system it will tell you.

I just got my 4th oil change at 15,000 miles and I have just been going by the oil monitor. I think lots of short trips and idling make it decrease quicker, but I am not sure. It was supposed to be 10,000 miles between changes, but I have never broken 5000.

I just rolled over 11k miles and I've done 4 oil changes so far. My commute is 4 miles each way in the city. According to the oil life monitor, a change is required every 2,500 miles or so. Although I'm sure I could get more milage out of the Rotella T6, oil is cheap and it certainly doesn't hurt to change it early. These engines are not going to be cheap to repair so I'm going to play it safe.

Thanks. The short trips certainly answer the question. I'm going to change it as soon as my Fumoto F106 N valve comes in!
Was it ever confirmed that is the correct Fumoto part? IN the other thread people mentioned it not fitting. I posted like 2 weeks ago according to the Fumoto site that is the wrong part number. This is probably the lowest activity forum I have ever been on so I have been anxiously awaiting someone to reply with more info...lol. I plan to do the same when I do my first oil change sometime in the next 1,000 to 8,000 miles

Yeah, I originally got the F106 but it didn't fit. Ended up finding the F107 fits perfectly. I've had it on since the second oil change and it works great. Makes oil changes a breeze.

Now you got me worried. I got the F106 off another thread in the forum. I'll order the 107 and clear it up for the group.

2500 miles seems short indeed but if the system is saying you need a change I guess I'd go with it too. I just did my first change and put in 5w-40 T6 (had the standard factory oil in it of course) at around 6300 miles and I was around 25% or so oil life. I had thought that was far off the possible 10,000 mile interval Ford had mentioned. Good to know the city driving y'all are doing might have the effect.

Just curious, what type of fuel economy are y'all getting with those short city trips?

Not too bad. In the winter, I typically average around 19mpg and that's with some longer highway runs on the weekends. In the summer, the best I averaged was 24mpg which I thought was pretty dang impressive. Strictly in the city, I get around 18-20mpg and I'm not easy on the pedal.

I had actually ordered the F107 before they had our engine available on their site as an option. I went based off the width and threads and that valve has been working fine. I just checked their site and it looks like the equivalent to the F107 is now the F137. Not sure how that one is different than the 107 exactly but you should be fine getting that one. There's other options like if you want the version with the nipple so you can attach a hose, you can get the F137S or N.

I just installed the F137 and the difference is a larger orifice to allow for faster draining, otherwise it is the same. No adapter was needed in my case.
