Has anyone on this forum compared 0-60mph data on a stock tune vs. an aftermarket tune? I am interested in some hard data to see what type of street performance gains have been accomplished by different tuning companies.

We are making good progress on an emission compliant engine and trans tune for Ford F150. I see some of the tunes on the market claim 60, 90 and 120 hp increases over stock. I wonder if this is true or a marketing gimmick? In our testing, we have seen the turbocharger rotational speed exceeds manufacturer limits at about 30hp over stock. We do not want to buy competitor tunes to test their claims as they tend to all require deleting parts, which we are not legally able to do. It is my understanding that all the 'delete' tunes are coming out of Canada...outside the reach of US authorities.

We would appreciate feedback from anyone with a tune on their general experience with an emphasis on fuel economy, performance and drive ability results.

Thanks

Lots more info on Facebook groups, but I have already seen you posting there. Hope your tuning is coming along good.
What device do you plan to flash with? EzLynk?

Not unless we have to as that tool is expensive. We most likely will use Alientech PG3+ as that is the tool we use for other applications and it is relatively inexpensive. That tool already works for the engine tune, but not functional on the trans tune yet.

Do you have the ability to measure data for your proven tune? We have a gentlemen with that tune that wants to visit us after Canada allows travel to Michigan due to covid. We will put his truck on the dyno and then do some straight line runs. No firm date on this, but most likely in June.

Okay, here is what I came up with-
With 5Star Daily Tow Tune
0-60 time 7.765 sec
75 degree temp 30 inch barometric pressure
Stock Engine
0-60 time 8.605 sec
76 degree temp 29.95 inch barometric pressure
Made 6 runs each and averaged the results. The runs with the tow tune is a noticeable improvement.
Hope this helps.

0.9 second improvement is not bad. Do you have any sort of trans tune or just the engine tune?

There is a trans only tune, but I haven't tried it. I don't know if the tune changes the trans shift points. I think the times with the tunes could have been a little better, I got some tire slippage with the tune but I just kept my foot in it.

What configuration is your truck? We are working with a crew cab, 6 ft bed and 3.55 axles.

I'm currently running a 90hp emis off tuning and trans tuning and its very comparable now to a stock Ecoboost. It's very quick off the line and will spin the first 3 gears. 3 gear seems to be where the magic happens and she's pulls very strong.

Can you provide data with some numbers? Any dyno testing or 0-60 mph results?

GreenDiesel, I remember the max safe EGT being fairly high (for a diesel) on my Ecodiesel- ~1450F, if memory serves- due to it being a small displacement high-rpm diesel engine. What would you consider the max safe EGT on these 3.0 Powerstrokes?
