I think if you log into the Ford Owners site and enter your VIN you can get the info on your Sync and if you have any eligible updates. Also, check the map update site which is separate from the Sync site as you might have free map updates avaiable.
Sync 3 update history details
Does anyone have or know where to get a list of the Sync 3 update history describing the changes and fixes?

I just did this last week and it so far has fixed ALL of the strange issues I started having with my radio/phone sync. Go to the ford owner site and use a jump drive to download the file and you can plug it in directly in the truck. Took maybe 10 minutes
I’ve done the thumb drive up dates twice now with no issues whatsoever.
I have done the sync updates on a thumb drive and have had no issues at all with them. But I don’t suggest you do the map update route. Firstly you can’t download to a thumb drive. And you have to pay $40.00 + tax to get a thumb drive with the update. The thumb drive I received didn’t do anything except throw a code that there is a problem, and to call tech service. Even provided the number to call. There is a set of instructions that come with, and seems straightforward. Nothing that was supposed to happen, happened!!! So I called, the tech explained how to check the version I had already. After giving them the version number. The tech says I already got the most recent version. That number is 119. And proceeds to tell me that’s why it doesn’t work???? So obviously I ask how I got this newer version without a thumb drive that’s only available through Ford? And why do I have to pay for the version I already had?? Btw they get your vin number to verify what updates you need. So I’m still scratching my head!! They pushed this update on me by using my vin, The tech had to push it up the line to see if I can get a refund. Not sure if anyone saw this before, but there was a TSB issued in August last year for issues with Sync3: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10179117-0001.pdf. My display had been getting sluggish in response, and fortunately, the thumb drive update worked just fine - complete with producing the xml file that I re-uploaded to Ford.
