Has anyone experienced there truck not wanted to move in gear ? Took it had it scanned after I got it to move nothing was found no codes .Even though I have had past shifting problems and had it reflashed .Still had periodic shifting issues prior to this and nothing was found .The service writer at my last oil change told me when I asked have they had any problems with the ten speed he said it was the valve body but was hard to get for repairs.Just wondering if its time to jump ship and get a different truck what sucks is I only got 19k on it.

The big mystery is why are no codes being stored? Should be something. It makes me wonder if something else is going on, such as the parking brake engaging and not releasing. My transmission has been flawless so far, maybe another dealer can help? Best of luck sorting it out, certainly this can be solved.
this dealer is the best in my area .I just hate to buy something else but even though I have a extended warranty I really don't want spend my time going back and forth hoping they will find the problem . The other thing I did not mention is there was a burning smell outside that I had them check out but they did not find a problem .I feel they are putting things off since I will be paying 100$ for everything that go's wrong in about . 6 months .

Your burning smell is likely just a regen, causes a very distinct burning smell as the soot burns off out of the DPF. The 10sp has generally been very reliable despite a few quirks. It may just need a new TCM and you'll be good to go.

Iam a retired diesel tech of 30yrs this is not regen I know the smell but with that said the 10spd has issues cold shift and normal operating temp shift issues so I just need it fixed its easy to take it for a drive or plug it in to read codes and say I found nothing wrong at this time everything seems to function properly I believe they know what it is but won't fix it till it totally fails Iam very disappointed to say the least.
Valve body fixed mine with hard shifts into 3, 5, 8. Keep on them!
mine is 2nd to 3rd and 7th to 8th gear it is really bad thanks I will try otherwise Iam buying something else and not a ford

In that case diagnose it yourself and tell them what's wrong haha. 90% of the time i'll just take it in and tell them what's wrong, and they fix it... but every now and then they don't know what I'm talking about, and fix something else that's unrelated, finding a good dealer with knowledgeable service staff and techs to back them up is difficult. Sounds like you have a not so good one.

The same trans is in the GM, so that leaves you with a ram... if you think the ford is bad just wait until you hop in the truck that chrysler and fiat gave birth to.

never a ram omg no way I would buy a Toyota .Its sad when you have to tell them how to fix it .They should pay me then .Well another visit then buy buy ford something I really will hate to do love the truck but not the problems .
If it’s still under the bumper to bumper warranty, they have to fix it. Tell them to give you a loaner until it’s done. By the way, the trans shifts at higher RPM when cold to help the engine warm up, so make sure that the cold shifting behavior is not just that it shifts at higher RPM. A hard shift is a fault that is under warranty.

It sounds like you just don’t like the truck and are looking for a reason to trade for something else. Toyotas are good trucks, but when you see the current market for new trucks, you may decide to hang on to what you have and get it fixed right.

No I love the truck but tired of the run around want to drive it at least 5 more years
Had a transmission issue with my ‘18 Platinum a couple years ago when it had just over 25k miles. When I went to put the shifter into drive it made a clunk and locked into to 7th gear. Put it in park and turned off the motor, waited a couple minutes and when I restarted the truck would not go into any gear. I was parked in a bad spot so after figuring out that I could get it in first by putting it in sport mode I was able to get it to a safe spot to park.

After about two hours when I restarted it, it would go into gear. Drove about a mile and it locked into 7th again. Limped it to the dealer.

Here is the message it flashed in the app. It did not throw the actual code until it locked out of gear, did feel like something was off prior to that happening, transmission felt like it wasn't shifting right...but no codes. Not saying your issue is the same, but you might have a faulty speed sensor getting ready to fail. That is what it turned out to be for mine.

As an FYI: I believe GM uses the same transmission, though with different programming. Ford-GM 10-speed automatic transmission - Wikipedia

Just dropped my 2019 with 45K miles on it due to hard shifting especially at lower speeds. I was told they have been having problems with the valve body and are going to replace it. Will see how it goes. Aside from that I still love this truck but may have to rob a bank so I can put fuel in it.
