my 2019 F150 Lariat with 39k mikes apparently needs to have the turbo replaced. Dealership says it’s because of an oil leak? Anyways hoping I didn’t get a lemon, love this truck so much. Leveled with 33’s, pulls great going up the Sierras to Tahoe👍
9.9 times out of 10 the turbo is just fine, and the leak is cause by the charge air seal. The crank case vent on diesel engines is connected to the intake, and thus some oil vapours will condense out in the system. if the seal on the charge air pipe fails, oil can weap past this, and comes down the front of the turbo and drips off the bottom. It's a cheap fix, but lots of dealers will just say it needs a new turbo as it pays more. A failing turbo will light up your dash with check engine lights, so if things drive fine and there are no other warnings, it's probably just a leaking seal on the inlet pipe. Tell your dealer to check this, and you're welcome.my 2019 F150 Lariat with 39k mikes apparently needs to have the turbo replaced. Dealership says it’s because of an oil leak? Will do…just dropped it offf at the dealership , diesel mechanic working on it tomorrow 👍Welcome Davidz, you are in good company with a turbo issue. I think this may be our biggest single issue with our tough little engines. See this thread here where some others have had the same issue.
Seems like a trip to the dealer solves the whole problem. Keep us informed of what you find out.
