I'm very interested in replacing my current 2012 Tundra 4x4. I just about pulled the trigger on a new 2017 F250 4x4. The reason I'm asking if the F150 diesel uses the CP4 fuel is because a class action lawsuit has been filed against Ford and Bosch regarding failure of the pump. Does anyone know what fuel pump the F150 diesel uses?

I doubt it uses the CP4, this motor it from Europe for 10 years prior. I am doing some research.

lol It may, I just found the 3.0l pump picture( i think) and it looks awfully similar to the CP4.

A fuel pump is a fuel pump, its used by all manufactures. It appear as YES, the 3.0l Ford Diesel does use the CP4. Along with just about every other diesel truck on the road including the 3.0l Ecodiesel Ram, 6.6 Duramax(they might be changing to Denso), and the 6.7 Ford Powerstroke.

Honestly If you like the truck, I wouldnt worry about it, but to each his own.

If you research the CP4 fuel pump, you'll find it works well in Europe with their diesel fuel. But, our cleaner diesel fuel in the US may not provide enough lubrication for the pump. When it fails the entire fuel system has to be replaced and Ford doesn't appear to be covering it under warranty. I'm not trying to bad mouth Ford. I fell in love with the F250 Platinum diesel, but stopped short of purchasing it after finding out about the CP4. I'm actually hoping the F150 doesn't use the CP4.

Dude I hear ya, all I can say Is I have had 2 6.7L diesels, and 1 6.6 Duramax with the CP4 and never once did I ever have any issue with the fuel pump, fuel system, or motor for that matter. I wouldn't sweat the small stuff if I was you. Out of 100 trucks on the road, maybe 2 have issues......

Well, I'm back after the holidays and I just wanted to say I took the plunge. I'm now the proud owner of a new black 2017 F250 Platinum 4x4 LB, with lots of goodies. Somebody special ordered it with lots of options and never bought it, so I did. I love the truck, but was worried about the CP4. I'm going to take good care of it and use a fuel additive in hopes it will keep the fuel pump properly lubricated for many years and miles to come. Thanks for helping push me over the edge!
