That's interesting.
I went back to my spreadsheet of fuel consumption, and here's results for my 2019 XLT (stock 4WD short bed and no towing).
The first 3,750 miles with the factory fill oil averaged 24.86 mpg (miles / gallons consumed).
The next 22,505 miles with Rotella T6 5W-40 averaged 24.54 mpg.
I'm assuming the factory fill is Motorcraft 5W-30 diesel engine oil.
I'm the only person that's changed the oil on my truck, and I've only used T6 5W-40 because that's what Ford recommends for heavy duty use or if biodiesel fuel is used.
The 1st 3,750 miles didn't include any really code weather (i.e. below zero F). After that, I took the truck on several 1,500 mile trips during below zero winter weather, which has a bit of a hit to fuel economy.
Based on my experience, it appears the Rotella T6 5W-40 may decrease fuel economy by ~1.2% if I ignore the effects of cold weather trips.
As the saying goes: your mileage may vary.
