Yep, I have this showing up now as well. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Looks like another appointment at the dealer.

Mine is scheduled for next week Friday 2/8. I service mine with a dealer that has 2 locations. The closer one to home couldn't get me in until 2/26, so I am driving a few more mile to their other location because this seems like a serious issue to address asap.

Mine goes in Friday at 9am. I guess from others posting that I shouldn't expect a call it's done until late in the day. I guess I will leave the truck with them and work from home instead of trying to work remote from the dealership, as that would be a very long day. I want to know if my part being replaced was okay or screw missing also, so going to ask to know that when I drop it off. No loaner provision? That really bites. I hope they get mine done on Friday, as I have a happy hour to get to later in the day...hopefully the repair will go well so that I have more reason to be happy.

Thanks to all you guys posting your experiences, and I will keep everyone updated on how mine goes.

Okay guys, so I have some good news and bad news to share...

First the bad news...
So, we had snowmegedden up here yesterday and -8F this morning air temps, so the roads are super slippery as the road salt they use only works above 15F. It took me 45 mins to drive ~15 miles to the dealer where I had my repair scheduled for today, along the drive seeing numerous accidents and many vehicles in the ditch, but I arrived there safely. Checked my truck into service, went into the service lounge waiting for my woman (future wife, so can't refer to her as wife yet) to come give me a ride home--so she too had that long duration white knuckle drive--well all but the last 5 minutes of it as I had to call and inform her to turn around as the service advisor came out to the lounge and told me they were out of stock on the replacement parts. I made this appointment last week and they had the parts in stock. So, had to turn around and drive another 45 mins home.

Now the good news...
Both my woman and I made it back home safely. I noticed in the parts department that they had Power Service diesel additive on the shelf below the Motorcraft OEM additives...hmmm, guess that Ford endorses using Power Service in their Power Strokes which made me feel better as I have been running Power Service white this winter. The service advisor told me that since I made my appointment that their Sr. Diesel Mechanic named Paul who has 33 years of diesel mechanic experience used up all their inventory and has done 5 of these replacements so far. He then told me he would order in more of the replacement parts. He also told me if they had the parts in that it was Paul's day off today. So, I requested that Paul do the work since he is an experienced diesel mechanic and with already 5 of these under his belt. So, I now have an appointment to have Paul do the work on Wednesday.

You can bet that I will be calling them to verify they have the parts before driving over there again, and I suggest everyone make that same verification call before driving in for the service appointment.

It will be nice to get this recall work completed and behind us so we can have more enjoyment with this great truck!

@jmperlik your post happened when I was typing in mine above. I liked how told them about @djman 's story and I did the same. When I take it in Wednesday I am going to ask to see the original parts before I sign off as you are mentioning--great approach...thanks! I had asked the service advisor that I wanted to know those screws weren't missing and for it to be written into the service record, but I like your idea better of having them provide the old parts back to us.

@jmperlik Roger that! Let's ask if we can "see the removed parts", not "take them home", and let's ensure whatever the findings that they are properly documented in the service record report before signing off and taking back possession of the truck.

The only one who has reported screws broken off and missing so far has been @djman and he had CEL come on in his truck indicating EGR issues...from another thread he started...

Threw codes P2457 and P245B over the weekend. Both have to do with the EGR cooling.
I cleared it but it came back again the next day. The dealer can't get to it for at least a week.
Anyone else having an EGR issue?

2018 F150 3.0l, Lariat, 4x4, 3.55, all the tech and adp cruise control goodies.
It is a real bummer that his truck was adversely impacted by this issue, and especially that Ford just put it back together without locating the missing screw(s) and sent him on his way. As he pointed out, at least he already has the extended warranty coverage.

For the rest of us, I am hoping that since mine and likely your trucks have not thrown the CEL codes indicating an EGR issue that maybe we will be fortunate and not have any broken off or missing screws when they put in the replacement parts.

@RBaker yeah, I think you starting up a new discussion thread on the starter run-on issue is in order. I can say that I have started mine at -xxF many times now and never had any shut-off's or starter run-on noise, and I have yet to use my engine block heater. Never really used my engine block heater on my 2010 F150 KR either.

I have about 4,300 miles, ~57% oil life remaining, and I plan on doing my first oil change at 5,000 miles just because I have been operating in some extreme cold and extended idle times, which the table says 5,000 mile range. After the first change I may stretch it longer based on Oil Life % Remaining indicator.

Oil change intervals are off topic for this thread, so to bring us back on topic, I called my Service Advisor today to confirm they have the EGR recall parts in stock now to do my truck, and they do, so mine will be in the shop first thing tomorrow morning. Service Advisor said there is a chance they don't get done with the truck until Thursday. I have their Sr. Diesel Mechanic (33 years experience) doing the job and he has done 5 already before mine, so even having done 5 they prepared me it possibly would not be ready until Thursday.

I will update you all how this goes for me.

Update on my truck...

Took it in yesterday at 7:15am, and they called me at 2:15pm that my truck was done. The mechanic that did mine is a Sr. Diesel Mechanic with 33 years experience, and my EGR recall was the 7th truck he had done, so he did the entire job in the 3.5 hours as expected.

Also good news, both my screws were still in tact and not lost somewhere within the engine. @jmperlik great collaboration above to get that in writing on the mechanics notes in the work ticket, also I requested them to show me the part that came out of my truck and they did it--see the attached photo below. I have encircled the 2 screws that are the issue of the recall in green. The Service Advisor told me that the replacement part was manufactured differently so that those 2 screws do not even exist in the new part.

I also asked the Service Advisor to print off an OASIS report on my VIN and confirmed that my diesel engine is under warranty for 5 years/100,000 miles.

Truck drove the same after I got it back then when I took it in, so I suppose then they did the job right. I had no antifreeze smells with mine, but I noticed from the odometer that they road tested it after the repair so perhaps the mechanics experience told him to do that before returning the truck to the customer.

Happy Days! This stress is behind me, and now I can return to enjoying this sweet ride!

@wreedsvt sounds like they are taking good care of you with the recall work. Thanks for passing on the tech comment about the engine being built solid--that is great reassuring news for the rest of us to hear. Let us know how your truck turns out.

@adamrbrg@yahoo.com I agree with @wreedsvt -- I'd be asking them for a new replacement truck and for them to transport yours back to Dearborn so they can learn from it.

I think it helps if you are able to talk with your service writer or his manager to resolve the problem. If you go in making demands you probably won't get as good a result.
You catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

@djman great advice!

@codywroberts@gmail.com so sorry to hear this news about your truck. For the amount of money we shelled out for these trucks I am in the camp of not accepting anything short of a brand new engine out of the crate, if not a completely brand new truck.

I know it was a short period of 2018 production that is impacted by this, but I would think Ford will lose potential new 3.0 customers if they don't take care of those impacted properly.

@jmperlik nice job on putting this spreadsheet together.

I have a few additional attributes I would like to see added to the spreadsheet:

- truck build date
- truck build plant (e.g., Dearborn)
- truck trim line (i.e., Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum)

We know that there is supposed to be a specific build date range where the EGR is an issue, so capturing truck build date in the spreadsheet will allow us to see if trucks are getting EGR issues outside of the recall build date range.

Are all these F150 diesels assembled in the Dearborn plant (for example)? Capturing this will let us know that. Are F150 diesels only assembled in the Dearborn plant?

Capturing the trim line info will allow us to see if there is a pattern of a specific trim line having most of the issues.

Thanks for taking the lead on this!

I was told by my dealer that the new part has the screws welded in so that they can't back out.

@gcmedic glad to hear your good news, thanks for reporting back.

These diesels take a long time to break in.
I heard from multiple people that diesels take 50,000 miles to break in, so if that is true, we aren't seeing our peak mpg's yet.
