I went back to the excellent photos wreedsvt provided earlier in this thread. I took a composite photo of his engine on the right and mine on the left and it is clear they just threw a bracket away! It is the larger square bracket with the two arrows pointing to it- it is just missing on my truck.

Dunrolinn it looks like the oil dipstick bracket is gone?

Mine was missing the fuel bracket you still have (BTW that bracket is not listed in Ford catalog--they robbed it off a truck that swallowed a screw and awaiting new engine!). I have the part number stamped on that fuel bracket.

I didn't study the dipstick but thought that bracket was part of the dipstick tube? Is the dipstick still solidly mounted?

You are correct! I took wreedsvt's photos out there and compared. If I lift the oil dipstick bracket up and attach it to the thingabob with 2 screws it will solve some of the issues.

Boy, I really hate that I let Ford work on their truck LOL.

I am about to leave FL for up north so no time to get this done here. I printed out the whole recall procedure and I have a diesel mechanic friend up there who says he can re-do the whole procedure and check torque values and such. It will cost me a few hundred but will put this whole debacle to rest finally. I will never again let someone who is unqualified to work on a lawnmower take my engine apart!

Amen, my teenage son would have done a better job hands down.

At least you have some photos to go by. Oil tube bracket goes on first to EGR with bolt and studded bolt, then the fuel line bracket. I have studied it, unfortunately, for a month. Bottom stud bolt holds small exhaust tube to block FYI, it is the other stud that holds the fuel line bracket.

I too have more photos of a brand new pickup and hands on knowledge if you need help.

I dont think they even messed with those brackets on mine. I think they replaced it without having to touch them.

Is there a way to tell from looking at the valve if the recall has actually been performed? I just bought the truck and the dealer said that they would get that done for me next day so I could take it home, however I can't see any evidence under the hood that anything was ever worked on, (i.e. the bolts all look new with no scratches, I can't see evidence anywhere of any coolant anywhere, all brackets and clips in factory condition, etc.) Being brand new it's pretty hard to tell if it's been swapped, but the speed in which they got the truck ready is suspicious, so either I had a really good mechanic that cleaned everything up tip top and didn't make any slips of the wrench during the process, or they didn't do it at all.

The only evidence I have I guess is that the recall doesn't show up in my ford pass app. should I get another shop to confirm, or just trust em that they did it and get truckin'.

Really glad I found this forum, good info on these engines seems pretty scarce!

Laytunes,

What year/date was the truck manufactured?

@Laytunes - ask your dealership's Service Manager for a full OASIS report on your VIN:
=> If they performed the FSA, it will be listed as completed
=> If they FSA hasn't been performed, they should not be selling you the vehicle and the FSA will be listed as OPEN on the OASIS report for your VIN

I wouldn't sign any paperwork until they provide you with the OASIS report for your VIN

Also if built after Oct 20, 18 it supposedly was fixed at the factory.

Took mine in for recall in Feb, drove a loaner for almost 3 weeks before the parts came in. All was fixed without issue but now I am going to check and see if I am missing parts like some of you guys. I never would have thought anyone could get away with not putting things back to factory installed and missing parts. I really hope that’s just an anomaly.

Truck had 9000 miles on it when I took it in for a recall, just an FYI. Made in July 18

OK, mine is back at the dealer. Daily it has been hesitating and light bucking but no code. Today it bucked violently and jerked for about a block then MIL came on with 2 warnings- reduced engine power and turbo is deactivated.

Codes are P259E TURBO BOOST PRESSURE LOW
P042E EGR CONTROL STUCK OPEN

Also when I shut it off it continued to click loudly and made a squeal noise, both stopped when I pulled the wire connector off the top of the EGR valve.

Interestingly in well over a half century of vehicle ownership this has been my most problematic vehicle with 5 dealer visits in the first 1,695 miles. (except for the used cop car I bought at auction LOL) . I will advise on the outcome but it may be a while as they are waiting until morning to diagnose it so they can start it up cold.

Honestly I don't know what to say, other than that's not good. Sounds to me like either dirty fuel filters, or your motor ingested metal. I am going to go with the ladder. I am sorry man. Keep us posted.

@Dunrolin - I know you had your FSA done because you have been posting very helpful video(s)

So you are saying you are having these issues after you had your FSA performed?

These new symptoms and codes don't sound any good and @codywroberts@gmail.com just said his threw he same codes prior to his requiring a short block rebuild.

Did your Service Department provide you status as to what they found when they did the FSA? Did they find/show your the old part with both screws intact?

I don't wish this on anyone, but it sure sounds like you are heading down the same path as @codywroberts@gmail.com with one or both screws being sucked into the engine.
