@djman - sorry for the mis-information -- I remember reading something previously about your hotshotting and mis-spoke by saying your were still doing it. Regardless you have admitted you do a lot of towing (every weekend) and are putting lots of miles on your F150 Diesel. If I had to bet, I think you would still win the survey for highest odometer reading of all members, and I am happy you have agreed to be our "test mule" :grin2:

The point I was trying to make to @mascrappo was that you need to have put some significant mileage on the engine in order to vibrate these screws (that I have learned have now been welded) to work loose. I highly doubt that a truck with less than 1000 miles on it would be in the same shape as yours in terms of what they found when they did your EGR bypass valve replacement recall. Would you agree?

Not sure about the other club members, but I do appreciate your feedback on everything you have gone thru, as it helps the rest of know what to ask and what to look for. How do you feel about Ford's response to your situation?

Thanks guys, I purchased this truck today and will get it next week. The parts arrive FedEx red label Monday and repairs are scheduled with the service department. I got what I wanted, the color, and RARE front bench seat Lariat, for a smoking price.

@mascrappo - Congrats on the purchase/new ride and an official welcome to the club! I dunno about you and @jamanrr though with those old-school front bench seats... :p

LOL yes I am old-school and love the extra room without the massive console! Column shift baby! Plus it is a legal 6 place vehicle if I need it! :grin2:
I like it too, the bench seat makes things a lot better for hauling kids and for getting your significant other/ wife to get a little closer. I had buckets and the large console in my Raptor while it is a cool concept and the majority take that option I like the console shifter and bench seats better.

I agree that few people have put enough miles or hard enough miles to have their screws come loose (my screws have been loose for years).
I wouldn’t think twice about buying a truck with 1000 miles on it.
I went through all the 6.0 problems and still owned 3 of them. While I don’t like being without my truck for a couple of weeks, I’ve never felt like ford hasn’t been fair and got me back on the road.
All brands have a few bad ones get through and with all the tech on these vehicles nowadays and all the epa crap, I’m surprised we don’t see more problems.

Well They are deep into mine. Not done yet so they gave me a car to drive for the evening. I am fine with it, rather that then rush the tech.

They did have fender wells out, air box removed, steering shaft disconnected and a bunch of electrical connectors under the brake booster disconnected. I am hoping it all goes back together well.

Anyone know what all those electrical connectors are under the brake booster and why they would have disconnected them? I wonder if there was something else there I didnt see they removed.

The are also doing the engine block heater recall and he said there was another for the ECM programming.

Fender might be a bit much, yes, but it did offer him a lot of room to work, h3ll if he wants to take the 5 screws out and put them back in go for it.
They actually took me back to the shop to show me what was going on, which was cool.
They had plastic all over the interior and the entire front engine bay was protected by mechanics fender covers to protect the paint. That made me happy to see they actually cared.

While most members have been lucky enough to get there truck back the same day, I was not. I can only relate it to most members on here seem to be in smaller towns with Ford dealers that are much less busy than Galleria/Memorial City Area of Houston, TX. The dealer I took mine to probably get as many F250s in there daily as some of these dealerships see total cars.

One cool thing about my dealer and a few others in the area I know(Chevy) is they still have the "truck shop," which means if you have a Diesel you go to the back of the dealership. This is so much better in my mind because it is normally much less personnel, less turnover, and these guys know diesels and trucks because they work with them exclusively all day. Both older gentleman(service writers) in the truck shop told me this motor has been really good so far and the only come back so far have been for this EGR recall. One even said "we can tell this thing is built fu***** solid"

All in all I went to Mac Haik Ford in Houston, I didn't even buy my truck from them and so far these guys seems great! I hope the repair turns out OK and I don't have to see them again for a long time.

@wreedsvt sounds like they are taking good care of you with the recall work. Thanks for passing on the tech comment about the engine being built solid--that is great reassuring news for the rest of us to hear. Let us know how your truck turns out.

Took all day to get it done! This was the dealer's first. When I asked the tech if I could look at the old EGR, he showed me and both screws intact. Later I asked if new valve/part # looked any different he said no. SO, I hope Ford used Loc-Tite on new part's screws! I confirmed with Parts Department they ordered the new number on the recall.

Drained coolant, removed fender well, and steering shaft. Sadly, while tech appears to be a wonderful "heavy diesel mechanic", his finishing up lacks a little. I had to reinstall all the wiring harness "clips" to keep wires in place, 10 minute job, and will have to do replace some screws he left out of the fender well.

Glad you got it done, good news. I think someone mentioned the new screws are welded in place. Hope so.

My mechanic was a little sloppy as well. Antifreeze had sprayed everywhere and I found a nut and bolt (7mm and about 1 1/2" long) up by the wipers. Hopefully it was from the old parts and the new parts had this already, LOL. Just happy to have it done.

My 2013 F150 XLT has been to a dealer shop just once, for a recall to reprogram the early sync system. That is the way I like it.

Dunrollin I am headed to carwash this morning to rinse off the antifreeze, which is all over the place! Like someone mentioned, it does has warranty and now that the part has been changed, I hope to stay away from the dealer as well.

Got mine back, no coolant spilled, all fender well screws are there and all the electrical connectors were put back into place.

Only thing is I have a breather tube that comes up from bottom of engine right next to master cylinder electrical connector, that has a mounting point, but it is free right now.

Can anyone tell me where this is suppose to mount/clip to?

I didnt look at it for long because it is rainy and chilly here.

I am finding more things tech did not do. Apparently only thing he DID do was change the EGR, I can confirm that. All the wiring was hanging, didn't bother to zip tie anything back where it was. Bolts holding the coolant pipes are missing. Worst part is he did not reinstall, the fuel line brackets! I am in contact with dealer to see if parts can be located or he will be ordering some. I have access to another truck and am using it for reference to put mine back together. No. I will not be taking back to where I bought it for repairs. This my friends is why I hate to take vehicles to dealerships.

That really sucks! Beside this breather tube, I had the opposite experience, everything looks like it did when I gave it to them.

Can you post some high res photos of the reference vehicle so myself and others can also look at how things should be? I think for as many trucks are going to have this done, having images of how the vehicle should look from the factory would help alot of people out to make sure their repair was completed properly.

I wouldn't let that slide, that tech should be put on notice and disciplined. Unacceptable to leave a customers vehicle like that.
